Vijay Mallya's emotional reaction has come out as Royal Challengers Bengaluru who has lifted the IPL trophy after 18 long years in 2026. RCB secured a special place in the history books after trouncing Punjab Kings in the final of the 18th season of IPL.
In his X account, the former owner of RCB recalled the memory of choosing Virat Kohli for the team at its beginning. He also writes down about his dream to bring the IPL trophy to Bengaluru.
Vijay Mallya wrote on X account, “When I founded RCB, it was my dream that the IPL trophy should come to Bengaluru. I had the privilege of picking the legendary King Kohli as a youngster, and it is remarkable that he has stayed with RCB for 18 years”.

After the enterprise of IPL, an auction was held in January 2008, which symbolised eight different cities in India. The Bangalore permission was acquired by Vijay Mallya.
Mallya paid about $111.6 million for the RCB franchise valuation, which is one of the second most costly, simply behind Reliance-owned Mumbai Indians.
RCB acquired different high-profile Indian and globally players like Anil Kumble, Jacques Kallis, and Zaheer Khan. Moreover, in the second round of the auction, Mallya picked Virat Kohli signed India under-19 World Cup-winning captain.
